Attendees will learn about how to prepare now to create a new garden or renovate an old one. Among the topics that will be demonstrated are proper site selection for a garden, and understanding how the amount of sun can determine what can be planted. Soils testing collection techniques will be demonstrated and test result interpretation will be discussed.Soil test kits will be available. Planting basics such as soil preparation, mulch and fertilizer use will also be shown. If those numbers on the fertilizer bag have you puzzled, that will be covered, too. For those who dread the trips to the garden with a watering can or hose, advice on garden irrigation will be presented. For many, plant label reading and seed packets descriptions leave them confused. If you want to understand either a little better the Master Gardeners will have examples of both to help you understand all the important information they contain so you can buy seeds and plants with confidence.
